This game requires a quiz master and a minimum of six players.
Divide the kids into two teams. The teams should form two parallel lines, with players stood in front of each other, facing forward. To begin the game, the quiz master asks the two players at the front of the lines a mental arithmetic question – the question could be a simple sum or a complicated multiplication or division problem, depending on the age and abilities of the kids.
The first player to answer the question correctly moves to the back of the line of their team. The other player remains at the front of their line for the quiz master’s next question. The game continues in this way until one team has completed a full cycle, with their first player back to the front of the line. They are the winners!
Arithmetic race can also be played whereby the teams attempt to eliminate the other. In this version, the first player to answer the question correctly remains in the game and moves to the back of their line – the other player is out and must sit to the side. Which team will remain standing and claim victory?!
