About the activity
Head into the garden or to a local park and choose a top spot for a bug safari – such as by trees, bushes, long grass, or around a pond. Get your child/children to carefully (and quietly) explore the area around them for insects. What interesting critters can they find in the grass, under rocks, on leaves, in tree branches? Encourage them to draw and describe the creatures they find in a notebook. Once they’ve finished their bug safari, why not head to a local library (or explore online resources together) to identify and learn about their fascinating finds?!
