Ask the children to stand in a circle and close their eyes. Silently tap one player on the shoulder – they will be the “It” for the game. Then silently tap another player twice on the shoulder – they will be the detective. All the the players can now open their eyes, and the detective moves to the centre of the circle.
The job of the “It” is to ‘tag’ all the other children by winking or blinking at them one by one. Once a player is tagged, they lie on the floor. The job of the detective is to work out who the “It” is as quickly as possible.
The detective has three chances to guess the “It”. If they manage to do so before the all the other players are tagged, the “It” becomes the detective for the next round. If they fail to guess correctly, they remain the detective for the next round, and a new player is chosen to be the “It”.
