Top tip! What happens if you call half on odd numbers like one, three and five? Try inventing some new rules for this game for when this happens. For example, should the other player miss a go?
About the activity
In pairs, take it in turns to roll a dice. The first child rolls a dice and finds the number of bricks on the dice. For example, ‘two’.
The first child then calls ‘double’ or ‘half’. If they say ‘double’, the partner adds twice the number of bricks and then calls out the new total, in this case ‘four’.
If the first child shouts ‘half’, the partner removes half the amount of bricks, in this case one, and calling out this new total. Now swap over and repeat the activity.
