Gymnastic exercises are artistic and rhythmic. They involve a range of tasks that test strength, flexibility, control and balance. Kids that play at gymnastics feel strong, graceful, confident and happy in their body –– all of which help in learning new skills, and in their development as a whole.

About the activity
In a soft, grassy, open space, get your child/children to warm up their body first by doing some jumps and stretches. Depending on how much gymnastics experience they’ve had, get them to practise different moves and positions. Can they stand on one leg? Close their eyes and keep their balance? Reach down and touch their toes? Perform a forward roll or a cartwheel? What different jumps and leaps can they do? Once they’ve mastered their moves, get them to choreograph and perform their own gymnastics routine!
