Fun fact!
Your long-term memory has an almost limitless capacity, but your short-term memory can only remember between four and nine random pieces of information at a time.
About the activity
The first player starts by saying, “I have a basket. Inside my basket is…”, following it with something beginning with the letter ‘a’. For example, “Inside my basket is an apple.”
The second player repeats the phrase, but adds to it with another item, this time beginning with the letter ‘b’. For example, “Inside my basket is an apple and a banana.”
The next player repeats the “Inside my basket is…” followed by all of the items that have come before their turn, adding something beginning with the next letter in the alphabet. This continues up until the letter ‘z’.
When a player forgets an item or makes a mistake, they’re out of the game. The winner is the last player still left in the game!
