Song circles are as simple as they sound – get the kids to sit in a circle and sing songs together!
Either choose a song the kids are all familiar with, or teach them a new song. Learning a new song until they know the melody and lyrics by heart is great for challenging and improving listening skills, concentration and memory.
As well as singing different types/styles of songs, experiment with all kinds of musical arrangements. For example, each child could sing a solo line – or divide the circle in half, with one half singing the first verse and the other the second. You can also challenge the kids to sing a canon, such as Row, Row, Row Your Boat, with each kid beginning the song at a different time.
Above all, make sure they have lots of fun singing their hearts out!
