Top tip!
There are various ways to free players who are ‘stuck’. A popular version is to give a high‐ five as you run past.
About the activity
Find a large space where the children can run around freely. If there aren’t many children playing, one person can be chosen to do the chasing; if the group is larger, they may prefer to choose two chasers.
The chaser’s job is to catch or ‘tag’ the other children as they run around. Once someone has been tagged, they become ‘stuck in the mud’ and have to stand still with their arms and legs stretched out.
Anyone who is ‘stuck in the mud’ can become unstuck if another player runs under their arm to free them. The game continues until all the players are stuck. The last one to get caught is the winner.
