This activity is all about role play! Give kids colourful options for fancy dress with various pieces of material and textures, and see what they come up with. Kids could show off their outfits on a catwalk, or spend a crafty afternoon creating something custom-made for a specific character they admire. Kids have the power to be whoever they want to be!

About the activity
To play a fancy dress game, put all of the items in the middle of a room or in a dressing-up box. Have a quick fire round of who can come up with the best costume idea from the items present. After two minutes, judge who has come up with the best costume.
If your child wants to be something specific, such as a robot, you can spend more time getting creative; covering boxes in tin foil. When you put time and thought into a fancy dress costume, your child will want to wear it out!
