Step 1
In pairs, one child closes their eyes (or covers them with a scarf) while the partner builds a model out of six bricks.
Step 2
The blindfolded child now feels the model to notice how it is built.
Step 3
Hide the model and ask the ‘blind’ child to remove their blindfold and recreate it with six bricks. Using the correct colours isn’t important –– just the shape.
Step 4
Compare the models to see how they differ. Ask your child how they remembered the model? And what is it like to build without seeing –– harder, easier or different? Now get them to swap roles and repeat the activity.
