This activity is perfect for inventive kids who’d like to design their very own dream toy! Introducing them to the concept of design, kids can choose to focus on the visual design of their toy or they can think further about what technical and mechanical factors they’d include. Cool!

About the activity
First, encourage your child to think about what toys they like to play with the most. What makes a good toy? Something that moves, makes noises, is big, or something which has to be assembled? They should draw their dream toy in the middle of a piece of paper.
Label the toy with key facts, is it powered by electricity or is it mechanical? Does it have buttons or levers that need to be pushed, pulled or turned? Write a brief description of what the toy does and add notes to explain how it works and all of the cool features it has. Then colour it in!
