Top tip!
Include a few added surprise gifts in-between some of the layers of wrapping paper. These should be small (to keep children guessing as to whether the next layer is the final layer!); such as a pen or a lollipop, but will keep kids engaged as they anticipate what might happen as they peel the paper away.
Equipment needed
- Prize

About the activity
Step 1
Preparation: Place a gift at the centre of the parcel, wrapping it in several layers of wrapping paper and hiding small gifts between some of the layers.
Step 2
Sit children in a circle facing inwards, out of eyesight of the person controlling the music. Children pass the parcel to the person on their right while the music is playing. When the music stops, the person holding the parcel tears off a layer of wrapping.
Step 3
Restart the music after each layer is unwrapped. Continue playing until the last layer is unwrapped and the gift inside revealed.
