About the activity
You need one caller and at least one speller. The caller will pick the word that each speller has to spell and will use it in a sentence. For example, to spell rabbit, the caller would say: “Please spell rabbit. Julia has a fluffy pet rabbit.” The speller must then spell the word, only their first answer can be accepted.
The game continues until someone spells a word incorrectly. You could change this rule so that someone is only eliminated after three errors or you could form a point system.
Here is a list of potential words, in order of difficulty, suitable for ages 6+: bat, cat, rat, nap, tap, tag, jam, fig, ball, task, have, hump, pest, bump, hike, peep, green, gust and mine.
